Herbst Pavilion
Just in time for the holidays, Fort Mason Center’s Herbst Pavilion opens its doors to two fabulous shopping experiences in mid- and late November. Shecky’s Girls Night Out zips into the piers on November 12 and 13 for two five-hour fashion extravaganzas. The Women’s Building Celebration of Craftswomen sets up shop for two weekends on November 29 and 30 and December 6 and 7.
Girl’s Night Out
Sheckys.com, the online resource for fashion, beauty, and fun, presents Girls Night Out events in 14 major US cities. Billed as the “ultimate night out with your girlfriends,” these top-drawer shopping parties showcase hot creations from big name and local designers at up to 75 percent off. Shecky’s popular shopping events also feature free samples of the latest cocktails in the Dove Go Fresh lounge and complimentary spa services.
After a marathon shopping session, weary bargain hunters can relax while sipping Little Black Dress wines, Chambord, or Midori melon liqueur cocktails. Shoppers can also explore health and fitness options, such as Borba Skin Balance Water and Crunch fitness clubs.
Shecky’s gets down in the Herbst on Wednesday and Thursday, November 12 and 13, 2008, from 5:00–10:00 p.m. each night. General admission tickets are a mere $10 for this fantastic affair. Even better, $25 tickets include goodie bags stuffed with must-have products from brands such as Borba, Astroglide, and Alagio Professional Hair Care. Celebration Of Craftswomen
Artisans at the 30th annual Celebration of Craftswomen sell beautiful handmade items to benefit the Women’s Building, a multicultural community center in San Francisco. A variety of craft media and traditions are on display, including glass art, fiber art, metalwork, leather craft, sculpture, photography, painting, ceramics, and book arts.
More than 300 female artists participate in the show, which features one-of-a-kind holiday gifts, fine crafts, and contemporary women’s art. Jami Miyamoto of Studio Roja creates whimsical pewter and silver objects, such as mirrors, mezuzahs, menorahs, earrings, magnets, and key chains. Silk artist Kavita Singh paints or screens flowing, jewel-toned flora and fauna designs on shawls, shirts, scarves, and wall hangings.
The Women’s Building houses 10 community groups, offers bilingual services, educational support, and financial counseling for low-income families. The Women’s Building was the first women-owned community center in the US and has launched more than 160 women’s programs and initiatives in San Francisco.
Enjoy holiday shopping in style and support a wonderful community resource at Fort Mason Center on two weekends, November 29 and 30, and December 6 and 7, 2008, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is $8.50 for adults, $6.50 for seniors, and free for children under 12.
