Join the new 1882 Society — Friends of Fort Mason Center membership program. The Friends program includes benefits to individuals, families, and businesses that provide charitable support for preservation and new programming at Fort Mason Center.
A new vision for Fort Mason Center is emerging that involves complete preservation of our nearly 100-year-old historic campus. It will result in increased and more flexible performance, meeting, and event space. We have retooled our Friends program to better the past as well as the future.
While the remodeled Friends program is fresh, the name recalls the past. 1882 is the year the center received its name — in honor of Richard Barnes Mason, an early California military governor. Levels within the recognition society recall other important dates and information about the modern center.
Veterans, seniors and students can now support preservation and new programs and receive other benefits for gifts of $18.82 or higher. Friends at the Founders level — which begins at $1,882.00 annually — receive VIP benefits, which include personalized assistance in event and meeting space booking, purchase of event tickets, and VIP parking access.
“Because of the contributions from Bay Area community veterans, seniors, and students, we felt they deserved their own recognition category,” said Fort Mason Development Director Jim Armstrong. “At the same time, our preservation and enhancement plans place increased focus on the importance of substantial philanthropy in support of the center’s future.”
For more than 30 years, Fort Mason Center has been recognized nationally as the most successful model of military base conversion to peacetime use. As a center for culture, education, and recreation — all within a National Historic district – Fort Mason Center must move forward with ambitious rehabilitation plans. The new 1882 Fort Mason Society will help fulfill those plans.
Members of the 1882 Society — Friends of Fort Mason Center program receive discounts to events and venues at Fort Mason Center and are invited to special events.
