Abraham in Flames

San Francisco International Arts Festival

May 31st @ 8:00 p.m.

A staged reading of the libretto for a new opera–Abraham in Flames–is inspired by the life and writings of the Nobel-prize-nominated Iranian poet, activist, translator, and folklorist Ahmad Shamlou (1925-2000). Following the reading by Niloufar Talebi, the audience is encouraged to join in conversation with Talebi and provide feedback on the piece. And for those interested in seeing the completed piece, Abraham in Flames is scheduled to premiere in 2018 and will be presented at SFIAF in 2019.

This reading by Niloufar Talebi is hosted by Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture (FMCAC) as part of the San Francisco International Arts Festival, which runs from May 25 – June 4 exclusively at FMCAC. The Festival features more than 100 performances by over 60 different artists, ensembles and companies. Get discounts on tickets to see multiple shows at the Festival by buying a Festival pass.
