Local painter Anthony Holdsworth exhibits his San Francisco Bay Area-themed paintings at the latest SFMOMA Artists Gallery show. Drawing inspiration from the world around him, the neighborhoods depicted on the canvas are created within their confines, and the people in Holdsworth’s works are from his life.

“San Francisco has strong neighborhood organizations moving in the direction of an authentic identification with place,” Holdsworth says. “I hope these paintings convey some of the energy and essence of each location.”

The exhibit features eight original paintings commissioned by Kaiser Permanente for its “Heart Walls” mural series at the new medical facility in San Francisco’s Mission Bay community.

The opening reception on Friday, February 26, 5:30-7:30 p.m. includes music, refreshments, and special guests. The gallery will also screen a short film about Holdsworth on Wednesday, March 9, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
