Explore the world of virtual improv with Fort Mason Center For Arts & Culture resident BATS Improv as the group moves to online shows and classes during the COVID-19 emergency. Using Zoom video-conferencing tools, BATS has joined the virtual improv world in brave, new, and unexpected ways.

VIRTUAL IMPROV SHOWS

The Bechdel Test returns on Friday and Saturday, June 12, 2020 and June 13, 2020. Get ready for shenanigans at the Beach House on Friday and Saturday, June 19, 2020 and June 20, 2020. The Blank Show happens on Friday, June 26, 2020 (Pride Edition with special guests). Imagine what it might be like to secretly observe the many Zoom meetings happening these days with Eavesdropping on Saturday, June 27, 2020.
VIRTUAL IMPROV CLASSES
BATS is also offering improv classes online. “Improv Storytelling For Kids With Jenny Meyer Rosen” happens on Tuesday and Thursday, June 9 and 11, 2020, from 4:15 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. ($10).
“Foundation 1 With John Remak” is part of BATS School Of Improv’s official study series and is now available virtually. “Foundation 1” meets on Saturdays, through July 25, 2020, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. ($240, No Pre-Requisite!). There is no class on Saturday, July 4, 2020.
“Characters & Scenes On Zoom With Dave Dennison” is perfect for improvisers with some experience. Tune in on Sundays, June 14 and 21, 2020, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. ($120).
“Improv Comedy Documentaries With Chris Sams” is open to improvisers who have aced Bats School Of Improv’s “Studio Scene Work” or more advanced studio classes (also must complete Foundation 3 ahead of the studio classes). If you’ve ever wanted to create your own This Is Spinal Tap mock-rock-umentary, join this class on Mondays, June 8 through July 6, 2020, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a performance on Saturday, July 11, 2020. ($220, Pre-Requisites: Studio Scene Work and Foundation 3).
“Intro To Improv Games & Scenes With John Remak” is a joyful class for improviser who have completed Foundation 3. This virtual class features a virtual performance (date TBD) and happens on Wednesdays, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., through June 24, 2020. ($200, Pre-Requisite Foundation 3).
“Silly Saturdays: Improv Game Shows With Chris Sams” delivers laughs for anyone, regardless of improv experience on Saturday, June 13, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. ($30).
“Improv For Leaders With Rebecca Stockley & Christina McFadden” occurs on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and is open to all adults. ($20-$30).
