Fort Mason Center For Arts & Culture resident organization California Lawyers For The Arts (CLA) has shifted to online seminars during the COVID-19 crisis and has compiled an extensive digital resource guide for the arts community to support them during this public health emergency.
CLA’s “2021 Music Business Seminar (MBS) Series” happens during four sessions and one legal clinic from February 10, 2021 through March 11, 2021. The series kicks off with “2021 Music Business Updates on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, 5;00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with moderator Ned Hearn and panelists Todd Brabec, Jeff Brabec, and Al Evers. ($25 | $10 student/senior)
Next up in the 2021 MBS Series is “Creators Path To Marketing Music” on Thursday, February 18, 2021, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with panelists Eric Chun, Uduak Oduok, Marcus Barone, Ramsey Kouri, and Jason Sewell. ($25 | $10 student/senior) The following week, Thursday, February 25, 2021, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., tune in for “Protecting Your Creations: From Registration To Dispute Resolution” with Alma Robinson and Cari Cohorn. ($25 | $10 student/senior)
The final seminar in the 2021 MBS Series is “Inequitable Music Industry Contracts: Perils, Pitfalls, And A Call For Reform” with Kevin J. It’s tax time again and CLA’s popular “Relax With Tax For Creative Freelancers” is back with tips and tricks on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Jeff Thompson leads the way as a tax expert and entertainment professional.
“The Art Of Negotiation” takes place on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Artist and attorney Susan Schwartz, co-creator of The Artist’s Contract with The Artist’s Office, conducts the workshop.
