The Carrying Stones Project: Ties That Bind Sculpture

Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture presents artist Sawyer Rose‘s outdoor sculpture installation, “The Carrying Stones Project: Ties That Bind.” The sculpture is on display through November 23, 2016 on the south side of Building D next to the FLAX art & design store.

The “Ties That Bind” sculpture visually depicts the labor data of 47 women who are tracking the hours they spend on paid work, unpaid work, and other activities. The sculpture contains 1,000 handmade tiles, each representing an hour of time worked. For more details, view a video about the project.
