Cuban Analogs: Photography By Juan Carlos Alom

The San Francisco Art Institute (SFAI) | Fort Mason Campus presents a solo exhibit, “Cuban Analogs: Photography By Juan Carlos Alom,” at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture (FMCAC). This multi-faceted exhibit features photographs and films by Juan Carlos Alom, works by other Cuban filmmakers, and a selection of films curated by Alom from past SFAI workshops.
Works are on view from Tuesday, August 6, 2019 through Sunday, August 18 2019, 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., in the Atrium Gallery at SFAI’s Fort Mason campus on Pier 2. The opening reception takes place on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (RSVP recommended). A special film screening of Alom’s latest work, The Killer Stream (2019), projects at the Osher Lecture Hall in SFAI’s campus at 800 Chestnut Street in San Francisco on Thursday, August 8, 2019, 7:00 p.m to 8:30 p.m. (RSVP recommended)
The closing reception occurs on Friday, August 16, 2019, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Atrium and Scully Gray Box galleries (RSVP recommended). The closing reception includes an exhibit walk-through with Alom from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and a screening of films from the “Cultural Cannibalism” workshop, co-taught by Alom and Tony Labat, in the Scully Gray Box Gallery, 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
