For Fall 2017, the San Francisco Children’s Art Center (SFCAC) at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture has three Big Kids Afternoon Weekly Workshops (kindergarten through fifth grade, ages five to 10 years) to inspire creating, collaborating, and sharing through visual arts. Classes for younger children are also available.

Each week (Tuesday or Wednesday, 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. or Thursday, 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.) offers wide-ranging explorations of different ideas and materials to inspire art-making. “Architectural Sculpture,” “Painting & Drawing,” or “Printmaking” workshops (12 weeks, one 1.5-hour class per week, $320; or $35 per drop-in) offer deep investigations of the challenges and choices found in two- and three-dimensional forms. Also available is “Homeschool Art Studio” (Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., , 12 weeks, one two-hour class per week, $360; or $45 per drop-in).

The weekly classes for younger kids (22 months to 5 years) meet on weekday mornings and afternoons and Saturday mornings and provide age-appropriate art instruction and activities .

Classes for three- to five-year olds include: “Art Studio I” (ages three years to five years old, Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., 12 weeks,  one 1.5-hour class per week, $320; or $35 per drop-in) and “Art Studio II” (ages three and a half years old to five and a half years old, Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 12 weeks, one two-hour class per week, $360; or $45 per drop-in).

Classes for toddlers (22 months to 36 months old) include: “Little Art Makers” (ages 27 months to 36 months; Wednesday or Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., or Thursday, 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.; 12 weeks, one one-hour class per week, $240; or $30 per drop-in); and “Side By Side” (ages 22 months to 36 months old with adult; Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., 12 weeks, one one-hour class per week, $240; or $30 per drop-in, for children and adult caregivers).

There are no classes the week of  November 21-25, 2017 to observe the Thanksgiving holiday
