FORT MASON FLIX: Beauty And The Beast (1991)

Dec 5th @ 5:00 p.m.“This is yet another example of the late neoclassic Baroque period.
And, as I always say, ‘If it’s not Baroque, don’t fix it!’”
Beauty And The Beast (1991)
About: When a disguised enchantress seeks shelter from a storm, a young prince refuses her offer of a rose for his castle’s roof. She curses him for his unkindness and transforms him into the terrible Beast (Robby Benson), while his servants become very animated household objects. Only in learning to love, and in being loved in kind, can the Beast break the curse and become his princely self again. Enter Belle (Paige O’Hara), an adventurous young woman searching for her father (Rex Everheart). Based on Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont’s 1756 fairy tale, with nods to Jean Cocteau’s classic 1946 film, Beauty and the Beast was the third Disney film released in its “renaissance” period of the 1990s.
