About: Twelve-year-old Miguel Riviera (Gonzalez) plays guitar and yearns to follow the example of Ernesto de la Cruz (Bratt), a musical star from long before his birth. Miguel’s family, however, has banned musicians, as great-grandmother Coco’s father abandoned the family for his own big stage dreams. On Día de Muertos (the Day of the Dead), Miguel crosses over into the Land of the Dead and meets Héctor (García Bernal), a new friend who will introduce him to his singing idol and help him to understand his family’s music ban. Secrets need to be unlocked and stories retold so that Miguel can return to the living and play guitar for all to hear.
