James & The Giant Peach
About: Based on Roald Dahl’s 1961 novel, this live-action and stop-action animation musical follows the young orphan James (Paul Terry) as he comes to live with his dastardly aunts Spiker (Joanna Lumley) and Sponge (Miriam Margolyes). After an odd encounter and gift from a magical old man, James accidentally causes a tremendous peach to grow on a nearby tree. While his aunts turn the peach into a roadside attraction, James discovers a secret world and some special insect friends inside. Together, they see the peach as a means of escape to a brave new world: New York City. Travel mishaps and mid-town adventures ensue.
