“I don’t know what to say, except it’s Christmas and we’re all in misery.”

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

About: The hero of the National Lampoon Vacation series, Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase), pursues the best Christmas holiday for his family — and he enlists his reluctant wife Ellen (Beverly D’Angelo), daughter Audrey (Juliette Lewis), and son Russ (Johnny Galecki) in the pursuit. With adventures in tree-cutting and light-stringing setting the stage, parents and in-laws and cousins rush in to complete the holiday mix. Add a missing Christmas bonus, and good cheer becomes increasingly hard to find. John Hughes wrote the script, based on his short story “Christmas ‘59.”
