The Nightmare Before Christmas

About: Drawn from a Tim Burton poem of the same name, this stop motion stunner draws from pop-up books, German Expressionism, and Dr. Seuss to create a new holiday classic. Jack Skellington (Sarandon), the “Pumpkin King” of Halloweentown, has grown tired of the annual spooks and scares.  Stumbling upon Christmastown, Jack delights in its trees and lights and determines that he and his Halloween fellows will take it over.  With the lovelorn Sally (O’Hara) raising red flags, Jack kidnaps Santa Claus (Ivory), whips up a skeletal sleigh, and sets off for his own midnight dreary of gift-giving.  Christmas – not to mention Santa – will need some saving.
