“Scottie, do you believe that someone out of the past — someone dead — can enter and take possession of a living being?

FLIX PIX Staff Selection: San Francisco is the backdrop for Alfred Hitchcock’s film noir, Vertigo. A psychological thriller that will keep you at the edge of your seat while shouting out the names of the local landmarks on the big screen. What is regarded as one of the best films of all time; to San Franciscans it’s a tribute to the city we all love. — Hanna

Vertigo

About: Frequently described as one of the greatest feature films ever made — and certainly one of Hitchcock’s masterworks — Vertigo highlights its director’s and cinema’s long-held obsessions: voyeurism, the beautiful woman, and the man who must possess her. As a cop forced to retire after a rooftop chase gone wrong, Scottie (James Stewart) takes an odd job tailing an old friend’s mysterious wife, Madeline (Kim Novak). Drives through San Francisco streets and stops at the Legion of Honor lead to another mission gone wrong, and the film doubles down on its heroine’s looks, its hero’s desires, and the tragedy waiting in the camera’s eye.
