From The Top

San Francisco International Arts Festival

Through Jun 4th

Victor Fung Dance performs From The Top, a witty work that examines power relationships between dancers and choreographers at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture. Audiences see a fictional scenario depicting an everyday dance rehearsal that comments on the absurdity of maintaining artistic integrity and the meaning of art. The stage action highlights the conflicts between an ever-demanding choreographer and the dancers who heroically attempt to fulfill the choreographer’s artistic vision. Humorous voice-overs and supertitles make sly observations about the politics of performance. Catch a preview of the piece with this video link. This is a shared bill with JJBro and Scarabe.

These performances by Victor Fung Dance are hosted by Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture (FMCAC) as part of the San Francisco International Arts Festival, which runs from May 25 – June 4 exclusively at FMCAC. The Festival features more than 100 performances by over 60 different artists, ensembles and companies. Get discounts on tickets to see multiple shows at the Festival by buying a Festival pass.
