General Store Exhibit

Presented By

San Francisco Art Institute | Fort Mason Campus

Through May 1st

The San Francisco Art Institute (SFAI) | Fort Mason Campus presents an installation-based group exhibit, “General Store,” at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture. Four student artists graduating from SFAI’s post-baccalaureate program use paintings, collages, and photographic sculptures to transform the first-floor Swell Gallery into an interactive, immersive retail space.

Curated by Yida Li and Weiying Yu, the space created for “General Store” displays art that provides a visual experience of everyday life. The individual art pieces function as store products to challenge the value of the goods they represent and the status of the art objects they are, while also questioning art’s status as a commodity. The participating artists are: Yida Li, Kate Smith, Evelyn Lin, and Yourong Zhao.

The opening reception takes place on Friday, April 20, 2018, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
