Generation Theatre: The Miser

Presented By

Generation Theatre

Through Feb 25th

Join Generation Theatre for the premiere production of a new translation of Moliere’s 17th-century classic, The Miser (L’Avare) at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture. Generation Theatre’s multi-talented R. David Valayre translated The Miser, directs the play, and stars as the title character, Harpagon. Valayre’s new translation takes advantage of the comedic and farcical elements of Moliere’s masterwork.

The character of Harpagon the miser is an archetype of laughable, stingy, power-obsessed people through the ages. The short-tempered, obnoxious Harpagon is overbearing, immature, and oblivious to the disdain others feel for him. He has a spoiled son much like himself and a very capable daughter with dreams of her own. Generation Theatre’s intrepid cast brings Moliere’s lively tale to life in this delightful new production.
