Inversion/Isolation Exhibit

Presented By

San Francisco Art Institute | Fort Mason Campus

Through Nov 28th

The San Francisco Art Institute | Fort Mason Campus presents a compelling solo show, “Inversion/Isolation,” on the outside wall of the Swell Gallery at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture. Featuring the performance-based self portraits of Alexander Taylor, “Inversion/Isolation” uses photography to explore self image, awkwardness, vanity, and struggle through the lens of humor. Taylor’s photographic self portraits encompass performance and exertion mixed with levity to convey how we cover up powerful emotions and overwhelming tasks by pretending to smile through physical or psychological ordeals, when in reality we are grimacing and gritting our teeth to survive.

The opening reception takes place Friday, November 17, 2017, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
