Jugalbandi

San Francisco International Arts Festival

Jun 1st @ 8:00 p.m.

World fusion music ensemble Ancient Future presents “Jugalbandi”–a classical North Indian musical duet (meaning literally “tied together”)–as part of SFIAF. Featuring bandleader Matthew Montfort, who’s studied sitar and is a pioneer of the scalloped fretboard guitar; and Pandit Habib Khan, who has been described as the “Jimi Hendrix of the sitar”, the duet will display an instrument combining qualities of the South Indian vina and the steel string guitar. They will be accompanied by tabla master Ferhan Qureshi.

These performances by Ancient Future are hosted by Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture (FMCAC) as part of the San Francisco International Arts Festival, which runs from May 25 – June 4 exclusively at FMCAC. The Festival features more than 100 performances by over 60 different artists, ensembles and companies. Get discounts on tickets to see multiple shows at the Festival by buying a Festival pass.
