Magic Theatre: The Chinese Lady By Lloyd Suh
Magic TheatreThrough Nov 3rd
Magic Theatre’s 2019-2020 season starts off with Lloyd Suh’s acclaimed The Chinese Lady at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture. Suh’s play is inspired by the true story of Afong Moy, the first Chinese woman to arrive in the U.S. Local favorite Rinabeth Apostol plays Moy as she travels from Beijing to the states and is put on public display for audiences wishing to learn more about the exotic eastern world. Suh’s writing and Apostol’s acting bring out the humor and insights in Moy’s situation and explore how humans consider themselves and others.
