Join Magic Theatre for an evening of spoken word and percussion with Black Fire, A Live Recording Event With Tongo Eisen-Martin at Fort Mason Center For Arts & Culture. San Francisco Poet Laureate Tongo Eisen-Martin leads the inaugural event in Magic’s New Performances Program with a live poetry reading and live percussion by Akheel Mestayer.

Tongo Eisen-Martin is San Francisco’s Poet Laureate and has just published a new book, Blood On The Fog, as part of City Lights Books’ Pocket Poet Series. In addition to his poetry, Eisen-Martin is an educator and organizer focusing on human rights, mass incarceration issues, and trying to prevent extrajudicial killings of Black people.

Black Fire takes place at Magic Theatre in Building D on Friday, October 15, 2021, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The 7:00 p.m. performance is sold out, but there are still tickets for the 9:30 p.m. show. Admission is free. Reserve a spot in advance. Magic always appreciations donations to support its programming.
