In conjunction with its exhibit, “NeoRealismo: The New Image in Italy, 1932–1960,”  Museo Italo Americano presents “Italian Cinema & Neorealismo: Lecture & Film Series” at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture. Italian translator, professor, and language and culture expert Karen Antonelli, Ph.D. introduces and discusses the films during each event.

The first event in the series, “History Of Italian Cinema: An Overview” occurs on July 14, 2019, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., followed by  light refreshments. Following the introductory lecture, the next session, “Rome Open City: Introductory Lecture & Film Screening,” takes place on July 21, 2019, from 4:3o p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

For Sunday, July 28, 2019, the program features “Bicycle Thieves: Introductory Lecture & Screening,” from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The series concludes on Sunday, August 4, 2019, from 4:30 p,.m,. to 7:30 p.m. with “Bitter Rice: Introductory Lecture & Film Screening.”
