Every Monday in June 2025, Rainbow Zebra Productions LLC and Magic Theatre present the Reading Series: Magic Classics at Fort Mason Center For Arts & Culture. The series features work by four playwrights whose work premiered at Magic on Mondays, June 2, 2025, June 9, 2025, June 16, 2025, June 23, 2025, and June 30, 2025; 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Andrea Gordon directs all of the readings.

The first reading is Sam Shepard’s Fool For Love (premiered at Magic in 1982); featuring Sarah Nina Hayon, Sean San José, Catherine Castellanos, and AeJay Marquis Mitchell; with stage directions by Caleb Cabrera.

Up next on Monday, June 9, 2025 is True Beauties by Julie Hébert  (first performed at Magic in 1986); with a reading cast of Margo Hall, Lisa Ramirez, Sarah Nina Hayon, Brian Rivera, Camille Collaço and Lauren Andrei Garcia; with stage directions by Caleb Cabrera.

Oedipus El Rey by Luis Alfaro (premiered at Magic in 2009) has a reading on June 16, 2025; featuring the cast of Luis Alfaro’s upcoming Magic world premiere, Aztlán: Juan Amador, Catherine Castellanos, Daniel Duque-Estrada, Gabriela Guadalupe, Sean San José, and Ogie Zulueta, plus Sarah Nina Hayon.

For June 23, 2025, experience the reading of The House Of Yes by Wendy MacLeod (first performed at Magic in 1990); with readers Sarah Nina Hayon, Gabriela Guadalupe, Samuel Del Rosario, Caleb Cabrera, and Jenny Nguyen Nelson; with stage directions by Eiko Yamamoto.

Sam Shepard returns on June 30, 2025 with a reading of Buried Child (premiered at Magic in 1978); featuring Donald E. Lacy, Jr., Edris Cooper-Anifowoshe, Brian Rivera, Khary L. Moye, Caleb Cabrera, Chanel Tilghman, and Chuck Lacson; with stage directions by Kevin Rolston.
