Magic Theatre continues its 2016 Spring Residency with acclaimed Nigerian-American playwright Mfoniso Udofia and two plays from her The Ufot Cycle — “Sojourners” and “runboyrun.” Udofia’s works run in revolving repertory at Magic during April and May, which makes for a compelling double bill of linked stories.

“Sojourners” is on stage first and introduces a central character of “The Ufot Cycle,” newlywed Abasiama Ekpeyoung. Abasiama’s adventures continue in “runboyrun,” which catches up with the lead character 30 years later when she is living in Massachusetts with her husband in a haunted house containing a ghost that only he can see. Judgment day is at hand as shadows of an unbearable past infiltrate the harsh realities of the present.
