Parsing Dissent & Untitled Still Life Exhibits

Presented By

San Francisco Art Institute | Fort Mason Campus

Through Nov 27th

The San Francisco Art Institute (SFAI) | Fort Mason Campus presents two provocative exhibits in the Schafer Gallery (formerly known as the Swell Gallery) at Fort Mason Center For Arts & Culture. “Parsing Dissent” is a group show investigating the representation of sexuality in Western culture. “Untitled Still Life,” on view on the Schafer Gallery’s outside wall, features the photographic work of Mengmeng Lu.

The four artists with work in “Parsing Dissent” explore their individual experiences of queer identity through non-representational art and abstraction. Their work engages with queer perspectives, envisions new possibilities, and uses the tools of abstraction to reclaim queer autonomy. Participating artists are:  Sami Cutrona, E. Leigh Daniels, Colleen Donovan, and Taylor Shell.
