For Summer 2019, the San Francisco Art Institute (SFAI) | Fort Mason Campus offers great art courses for the public at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture. Held on evenings, these painting courses are perfect for beginners or more advanced students and are taught by experienced artists, all SFAI graduates.

Introduction To Painting. Tuesdays, June 25, 2019 to August 13, 2019, 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. $385. This class is taught by San Francisco-based artist Kathy Sirico and explores all aspects of acrylic painting. Students can also explore other water-based media. Portrait Painting. Wednesdays, June 12, 2019 to July 31, 2019, 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. $385. Ingrid V. Wells leads this oil-painting class, where students execute three portraits in oil. (Meets in Studio 26, SFAI | Fort Mason Campus.)

Narrative Painting. Thursdays, June 6, 2019 to August 13, 2019, 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (no class July 4, 2019). Painter Felicita Norris teaches this water-based painting course that covers paint handling, use of color, value, and composition. Norris instructs with slide lectures, readings, class discussions, critiques, and studio work time. $480 (Meets in Studio 26, SFAI | Fort Mason Campus.)

Painting Today: Popular Culture & Visual LiteracyThursdays, June 20, 2019 to August 16, 2019, 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Instructor Lauren Jade Szabo focuses on hands-on demonstrations, studio practice, and one-on-one tutoring to help students develop a body of work reflecting traditional and contemporary painting approaches. $385 (Meets Studio 27, SFAI | Fort Mason Campus.)
