Residue / Cocoon Exhibit

Presented By

San Francisco Art Institute | Fort Mason Campus

Through Nov 13th

The San Francisco Art Institute (SFAI) | Fort Mason Campus presents an exhibit of textile art by three artists, “Residue / Cocoon,” at Fort Mason Center For Arts & Culture. “Residue / Cocoon” reveals the conflict of grappling with personhood as expressed through the intimate connections humans have with tactile, inanimate objects that both empower and tether their identities.

Evan Pettiglio curates and participates in the exhibit. Shara Mays and Flora Wilds also contributed work to the exhibit. “Residue / Cocoon” explores how textiles consume lives through close contact with skin, produce seductive warmth and comfort, and inhabit dreams as humans sleep with soft, enveloping textures.

“Residue / Cocoon” is on view in SFAI’s Schaefer Gallery from November 1, 2019 through November 13, 2019, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The opening reception takes place on Friday, November 1, 2019, at 4:30 p.m.
