Silvia Poloto: The Poetics Of Space
SFMOMA Artists Gallery
Through Jul 15th
SFMOMA Artists Gallery presents “The Poetics Of Space,” an exhibit featuring painting and mixed-media pieces by Silvia Poloto at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture. The San Francisco-based Poloto mainly uses paper as the ground for her paintings and mixed-media enhancements. The series of artworks in this exhibit explore Poloto’s inquiry into and engagement with space.
For Poloto, space manifests as the real and imaginary distances between objects, ideas, people, and communities — and how these separations might be connected or joined. Poloto’s work examines the dynamics of composition, abandon, intuition, control, the wisdom of lived experience, and the way to open a path to discovery. Through her work, beauty becomes the universal transcendence that defines, enables, frames, and provokes human conversations.
The opening reception takes place on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please RSVP for the reception at ArtistsGallery@SFMOMA.org.
