Taking inspiration from Hans Christian Andersen’s The Snow Queen, Disney’s musical-fantasy animation tells the story of Anna and Elsa, two princesses of Arendelle who grow up in lonely isolation to guard against Elsa’s magical power to create ice and snow. After their parents’ death, Elsa’s coronation day is ruined when she flies into an icy fit of rage at Anna’s sudden marriage announcement and puts the kingdom in a state of perpetual winter. Anna joins forces with a talking snowman, an ice seller and his moose and together, they embark on a quest to save Arendelle and to restore the bonds of sisterhood.
