This Message Has No Content

Embark Gallery

Through Mar 10th

Embark Gallery presents “This Message Has No Content,” an exhibit that examines digital mis-communication, insatiable consumption, and fragmented contemporary culture at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture. Curated by Aaron Wilder, the exhibit is inspired by the error message, “This message has no content,” which appears on iPhones and iPads.

Embark Gallery and Wilder have selected artwork reflecting the realm of the social in the digital age, ideas of identity and representation, experiences of intimacy, and critical looks at how communications are sent and received. The exhibit also features artwork that comments on vapid or empty social interaction, marketing-centric “dis-information,” and notions of beauty and normalcy in contemporary culture.

Exhibiting artists include: Dave Beeman (California College of the Arts, CCA), Lizzy Blasingame (San Francisco State University), Kira Dominguez (CCA), Laura Gilmore (CCA), Izidora LETHE (San Francisco Art Institute, SFAI), Ryan Meyer (University of California-Davis), Tamara Porras (CCA), Connie Woo (SFAI), and Chuhe Yan (SFAI).

The opening reception takes place on Friday, February 2, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
