Visions from the Pit

San Francisco International Arts Festival

Through May 27th

Visions from the Pit is a reflection on the trope of “the Doom,” the medieval European painting genre dedicated to depicting the end of days. Repurposing the concept of the end times for modern days, Embark Gallery presents visions from the pit—vignettes on chaos, the monstrous, and the apocalypse. Featuring artists Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who received his BA and an MAH in art history from Edinburgh University and completed his MFA from San Francisco Art Institute of this year;and Gabriel Christian, who received a BA in Theater Studies from Yale University; the end times will be more tangible than ever.

These artworks by Gabriel Christian and Zulfikar Ali Bhutto are hosted by Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture (FMCAC) as part of the San Francisco International Arts Festival, which runs from May 25 – June 4 exclusively at FMCAC. The Festival features more than 100 performances by over 60 different artists, ensembles and companies. Get discounts on tickets to see multiple shows at the Festival by buying a Festival pass.
