Join Arion Press and Peter Sun for a presentation and performance of living botanical sculpture in the sixth installment of the 2026 Craft Talk Series at Fort Mason Center For Arts & Culture.
Ever imagined a sculpture could be alive? Throughout the evening, sculptor Peter Sun builds a living botanical sculpture onstage – pausing between gestures to discuss his origins, the story of his artistic journey, his work with Arion Press, and more.
The talk and the making braid together: a few minutes of story, then a turn to the piece, then back again, until a final gesture completes it.
The audience meanders through these stories with Sun as a living sculpture becomes itself in front of them.
Doors open at 6:00 p.m. in the Bayfront Theatre, third floor, Building B.
The talk lasts 45 minutes, followed by a 15-minute Q&A. A reception happens afterward in the Arion Gallery, Building B, first floor.
Peter Sun is a San Francisco–based artist who creates living botanical sculptures, re-choreographing botanicals into intentional forms that are of nature, yet above nature. His work explores presence, time, and the body in a technologically mediated world, and technology’s role in the creative process.
Sun’s work has appeared at the Asian Art Museum, San Francisco City Hall, Fort Mason Center For Arts & Culture, and the SF Decorator Showcase. Most recently Sun has been exploring robotics onstage to co-create alongside him, reimagining the boundary between installation and performative art.
