
Whoop Dee Doo built a new show for a live studio audience on Halloween weekend, lifting the curtain on Saturday, October 29, 2022 and Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Fort Mason Center For Arts & Culture. Whoop Dee Doo worked with Boys & Girls Club of San Francisco, Galileo High School Futurama Program, and Sunset Youth Services on show themes, sets, costuming, and performer line-ups. Headlining performers included Bolivia Corazón de América, David Hardiman’s San Francisco All Star Big Band, and Oakland, CA-based dance organization TURFinc. Bay Area Video Coalition (BAVC) captured the broadcast feed and aired the final cut on SF Commons TV.

Whoop Dee Doo creates performances riffing on TV variety shows, DIY aesthetics, and all-ages fun. Whoop Dee Doo (founded 2006, Kansas City, MO; based Brooklyn, NY since 2013) is an artist-led project co-created by Matt Roche and Jaimie Warren. The collective creates installations and live performances through partner museums, galleries, arts organizations, festivals, and universities. Each project engages local communities to work with young people and nonprofit groups to research, conceive, and create site-specific programming. The process emphasizes collaboration, amplifies unique community voices, and initiates cross-generational dialogue. Since 2006, Whoop Dee Doo has created more than 50 large-scale projects for organizations including SFMOMA, The Smart Museum, Loyal (Sweden), POP Montreal, The Contemporary (Baltimore), and Knockdown Center (Queens). Awards include Franklin Furnace Grant, Abrons Arts Center Fellowship, and 2016 High Line artist-in-residence. Whoop Dee Doo is featured in Art21’s documentary series New York Close Up.
