Chinese Whispers: Golden Gate
Chinese Whispers
Through Mar 20th“Golden Gate” is a multi-media experience that brings to life the stories of San Francisco Bay Area Chinese immigrants: local Chinese-American communities contribute family memories, images, and interviews with elders whose ancestors made long journeys to the US.
An intergenerational cast of nine raconteurs includes 84-year-old Ford Lee who appears on stage to tell his own tales. And all the stories feature projected images and soundscapes to create an immersive experience. The production also showcases personal stories of recent immigrants living in San Francisco’s Chinatown to forge connections between earlier Chinese communities and today’s multifaceted neighborhoods.
The performance includes a 10-minute intermission and a reception follows the Friday, March 18 production at 9:30 p.m. Friday and Sunday sold-out.
