Chasing The Thunder Screening

The International Ocean Film Festival

Aug 23rd @ 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The International Ocean Film Festival presents a special screening of the riveting maritime documentary Chasing The Thunder at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture. Chasing The Thunder chronicles marine activist group Sea Shepherd‘s 110-day, 10,000-mile pursuit of an infamous ocean poaching vessel, the Thunder.

The Sea Shepherd vessel tracked the Thunder through hazardous giant ice floes and a cyclone-type sea storm. The open-water chase raced through two seas and three oceans, including the Indian Ocean, East African waters, the South Atlantic, and Antarctic swells and icebergs. Violent crew clashes and a near collision between the two ships endangered Sea Shepherd’s mission to stop the Thunder‘s illegal fishing activities.

Following the film, attend a question-and-answer session with Captain Paul Watson, one of Greenpeace’s original members and founder of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, and Adam Meyerson, Chief Officer on the M/Y Bob Barker, an ice-class former Norwegian whaler that can patrol polar fishing regions.

Holders of $50 VIP tickets can attend the Cowell Theater lobby reception from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. featuring wine, beer, and light appetizers.
