Travel to the magical, mythical world of a 1980s disco palace in the Philippines as the Magic Theatre transforms into a sparkly nightclub for the Bay Area premiere of Jessica Hagedorn‘s twisted masterpiece, Dogeaters. The playwright created Dogeaters from her best-selling novel of the same name, which chronicles la vida loca in Manila during the regime of Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos.

Expect waiters, junkies, movie stars, models, and drag queens to cavort with the wealthy and influential under a twirling mirror ball. And rebels, activists, and martial law to mix it up during action scenes ranging from a beauty pageant and film festival to an assassination. It’s all going down at the wildest disco palace ever imagined.
