Attend a thought-provoking lecture and get a glimpse of rarely seen treasures from museum vaults and private collections at The Greatest of Oceanic Art: Arguing Aesthetics. Enjoy projected images of sculptures and artifacts from an array of cultures spanning the Pacific Ocean: Polynesia to New Guinea and beyond.

Tribal art experts from the San Francisco Tribal & Textile Arts Show, happening in the nearby Festival Pavilion, share tales about early South Pacific collecting expeditions and adventurous anthropologists living among indigenous cultures. The experts also explain the aesthetic and creative choices involved in building a world-class Oceanic art collection.
