Magic Theatre presents a special re-imagining of Tongues by Sam Shepard and Joseph Chaikin at Fort Mason Center For Arts & Culture. Aidan Stone conceived the new version, Mother/Tongues to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the Magic Theatre premiere of Tongues by Sam Shepard and Joseph Chaiken.

Mother/Tongues features a reading of Tongues and additional material, including letters between Sam Shepard and Joseph Chaikin. This benefit performance includes drinks and light food with the performers and staff.

Mother/Tongues is performed by actors and musicians Rezan Asfaw, Allie Boland, Mia Tagano, and Ogie Zulueta, with live music from Steve Wyreman and Evanne Barcenas.

Mother/Tongues is FREE TO ALL Magic Theatre Performance Pass holders or $40 for non-Pass holders. The Performance Pass offers access to special events like Mother/Tongues, plus workshops, readings and all four of Magic Theatre’s 2024 shows: Dirty White Teslas Make Me Sad by Ashley Smiley (February 24 to March 17, 2024), Garuda’s Wing by Naomi Iizuka (June 5 to June 23, 2024), Jerry Garcia In The Lower Mission by Richard Montoya (July 11 to July 21, 2024), and Richard II translated by Naomi Iizuka (August 21 to September 8, 2024). For a limited time, the Performance Pass is only $150.
