San Francisco International Ocean Film Festival

Through Mar 12th

The 14th annual San Francisco International Ocean Film Festival (SFIOFF) at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture features four days of exhilarating, ocean-themed independent film screenings, filmmaker Q&A sessions, panel discussions, and the Sixth Annual SFIOFF Student Film Competition for middle and high school students. View the complete schedule and the official 2017 trailer.

The SFIOFF screens dozens of films from around the globe; ranging from shorts to feature-length work, live-action documentaries, and animated films. Films focus on fascinating ocean animals — shrimp, lobsters, turtles, Dungeness crabs, sea horses, tuna, sea urchins, penguins, and sharks.

Explore amazing marine environments such as coral reefs, fisheries, arctic regions, and waters around Malaysia, Indonesia, and other locations. Other programs investigate marine eco-issues and activities including rising sea levels; the Fukushima, Japan nuclear reactor leak; container freight shipping; surfing; and indigenous culture relationship with the sea.

The SFIOFF presents awards to films in categories such as environment, conservation, wildlife, innovation, and coastal culture, among others.
