Jary Niebur Exhibit

Presented By

SFMOMA Artists Gallery

Every Weekday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The SFMOMA Artists Gallery presents an exhibit of paintings by local painter Jary Niebur in Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture’s office in Building C, Suite 260. Niebur shows his most recent work from “Hexaconfig,” a series dedicated to the perfect number six. Niebur started the series in 2016. Through the individual linen canvases in the series, Niebur explores the concept of complex problem-solving with limited resources.

In his first canvases in the “Hexaconfig” series, Niebur positioned six one-inch squares in a variety of arrangements. As he progressed through more canvases in the series, he re-positioned the original squares in different patterns, or configurations. The contrasting colors and positions of the small squares creates an ongoing dialogue and illustrates the minimal input needed to generate a maximum outcome.
