BATS Improv
Through Aug 26thBATS Improv at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture takes audiences around the world in August with a series of improvised performances inspired by different cultures. On Friday and Saturday, August 11 and 12, BATS partners with Arab arts and music group Zawaya to present Improvised Tales of the Arabian Nights.
The writing of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Laura Esquivel, and Isabel Allende sets the scene for Chocolate & Solitude: A Story of Magical Realism, on stage Friday and Saturday, August 18 and 19. Musicians from Tango No. 9 supply the sounds for improvised tales from South and Central America.
Evoking a European cabaret ambiance, Theatre On the Edge takes audiences to Berlin in the era of Bertolt Brecht on Friday and Saturday, August 25 and 26. Developed by Berlin-based Theater Ohne Probe, Theatre On the Edge tackles tough issues of today based on audience suggestions.
