American Typhoon Exhibit

Presented By

San Francisco Art Institute | Fort Mason Campus

Through Sep 29th

The San Francisco Art Institute | Fort Mason Campus presents a provocative group show, “American Typhoon,” in the Swell Gallery. “American Typhoon” examines cross-border issues of globalization and migration of people and how these phenomena affect politics, economies, societies, and interactions between cultures, or resistance to cultures.

“American Typhoon” recognizes artists of the Asian diaspora working in the U.S. The exhibit also contemplates the experience of “the other” that has become an integral part of diaspora artists’ racial and cultural identities.

The participating artists are: Kai Chen (also an “American Typhoon” curator), Kacy  Jung (“American Typhoon” curator), Tiff Yue Liu, Vasudhaa Narayanan, Sherwin Rio, Yu Weiying (“American Typhoon” curator), and Zeus Zou.

The opening reception takes place Friday, September 22, 2017, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
