Rock out at home and in-person with Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture (FMCAC) resident group Blue Bear School Of Music’s Summer 2023 in-person and online classes, camps, and online private lessons. Learn how to play a new instrument or improve existing musical skills with Blue Bear’s diverse program of in-person band workshops and acoustic jam classes; as well as virtual classes, virtual private lessons; and Little Bears in-person toddler music classes.

The Summer Camps run Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., in different sessions for grades four through 12 from June 19, 2023 through August 11, 2023 (no camps July 3, 2023 through July 7, 2023). Camps cost $500 to $575 each.

For students in grades one through three, Blue Bear teams with FMCAC residents San Francisco Children’s Art Center and Young Performers Theatre for the MAD (Music, Art, Drama) Camp, June 26, 2023 to June 30, 2023, Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ($625)

Children in grades four through seven can attend Get Ready To Rock Camp from June 26, 2023 through June 30, 2023 ($575). Those in grades six through eight are eligible for Rock U 1 Camp held July 17, 2023 though July 21, 2023 and August 7, 2023 to August 11, 2023 ($575).

Grades seven through 10 have great options: Rock U 2 Camp, June 19, 2023 through June 23, 2023 and July 31, 2023 to August 4, 2023 ($575); Songwriting Camp, July 10, 2023 to July 14, 2023 (also grades 11 and 12, $500); DJ Camp, August 7, 2023 through August 11, 2023 (also grade 11, $575); and Guitar Camp, June 26, 2023 through June 30, 2023 (also grade 11, $500).

Students in grades eight through 12 are eligible for Rock U 3 Camp, July 24, 2023 to July 28, 2023 ($575) and Songwriting Camp, July 10, 2023 to July 14, 2023 (also grade seven, $500), and for some of the other camps mentioned above for grades seven to 10 and seven to 11.

For adults, Blue Bear offers virtual and in-person sessions featuring electric, acoustic, lead, and blues/jazz guitar with classes for all skill levels, from beginner to advanced students. Other classes cover vocals, DJing, songwriting, jam bands, and more. Tuition costs $320 to $535 for most eight-week to 11-week sessions. Summer sessions run July 5, 2023 through September 21, 2023.

Little Bears In-The-Park classes for ages four months to five years old are available on an ongoing basis. The 45-minute classes take place on Monday and Wednesday mornings in Upper Fort Mason’s Great Meadow and Wednesday and Saturday mornings indoors at Blue Bear.
