Rock out at home with Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture resident group Blue Bear School Of Music’s Virtual Spring 2021 classes and online private lessons. Learn how to play a new instrument or improve existing musical skills with Blue Bear’s diverse program of virtual classes, virtual private lessons, and Little Bears toddler music classes.

The six-week and 11-week virtual classes begin the week of April 12, 2021 and run through June 29, 2021. Virtual sessions feature electric rhythm and lead guitar and acoustic guitar with classes for all skill levels, from beginner to advanced students. Other guitar styles explored include Blues/Jazz and Heavy Metal. “Shorties For Guitar” are four-week classes focusing on flamenco and songwriting. Other virtual classes cover vocals, ukulele, songwriting, piano and keyboards, bass and drums, and more. Tuition costs $120 for four-week classes, $160-$350 for six weeks, and $160 to $405 for 11 weeks.

Adult band workshops have also gone virtual.  Blue Bear is helping band members find each other and schedule online sessions using JackTrip Raspberry Pi virtual studio technology. Fill out the Blue Bear Band Workshop Interest Form, which has more information on the technology needed to participate. Tuition is $625 for 10 weeks (two hours per week), including the Raspberry Pi hardware, or $400 for those who already have JackTrip Raspberry Pi equipment.

Little Bears online classes for ages six months to five years old (with parents or caregivers) are available on an ongoing basis. Mini-Little Bears sessions (20 to 25 minutes long) are available on Tuesdays (10:00 a.m.) and Wednesdays (11:00 a.m.) Individual drop-in Mini-Little Bears sessions cost $16, or $30 for a two-pack. Little Bears In The Park in-person, outdoor sessions (with parents or caregivers) are also available at a variety of San Francisco parks twice each week for 45 minutes. Fees average about $25 per class and drop-ins are not allowed at this time. Email LB@BlueBearMusic.org for more information.

The famed in-person summer camps return in 2021 with health and safety rules and lots of fun. Band Camps for various ages meet from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday for one week each and cost $1,500 each. The following band camps are taking students: “Get Ready To Rock” (grades four through seven), June 14, 2021 to July 2, 2021; “Rock U 1” (grades six through eight), June 14, 2021 through July 2, 2021; “Rock U 2” (grades seven through 10), July 6, 2021 through July 23, 2021; and “Rock U 3” (grades eight through 12), July 26, 2021 through August 13, 2021. Guitar Camp is happening June 21, 2021 through July 9, 2021 and costs $1,400. (no Guitar Camp on Monday, July 5, 2021).
