FOR-SITE Foundation presents an immersive, multimedia installation, “Essence Of Threads,” created by three artists and a weaver’s collective in the Chapel in Upper Fort Mason at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture. “Essence Of Threads” combines found materials, sound, and video in eight portals positioned throughout FOR-SITE’s “Sanctuary” exhibit. The installation evokes the sense of refuge found in a weaving space with sounds of a weaver using a loom at The Klozar Weaving Project, videos, and physical remnants of found carpeting.

Iranian-American artist and curator Shagahyegh Cyrous collaborated with local interdisciplinary artist Laura Elayne Miller and Iranian-American video artist Shirin Abedinirad to craft the ephemeral, poetic weaving space. Viewers are invited to experience the one-day installation as a place of contemplation, meditation, and peace.
