FLAX Art + Design Store: Daniel Smith Watercolor Seminar

Presented By

FLAX Art + Design Store

May 4th @ 1:00 p.m.

FLAX Art + Design Store, a Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture resident organization, presents an in-person seminar about Daniel Smith, Inc. artists’ materials with Scott Stevenson.

Seminar speaker Scott Stevenson is a watercolor artist and the Sales Representative and Brand Ambassador for Daniel Smith, makers of FLAX’s bestselling watercolor paints. Have questions about Quinacridone pigments? Wonder where the color Serpentine comes from? How did the color Moonglow get its name? What’s granulation? This is a great opportunity to ask questions in a conversational and relaxed atmosphere.

The hand-on presentation starts off with the history of Daniel Smith and the many aspects of developing their products. See first-hand lab paint outs, minerals used to manufacture colors in the PrimaTek line, and more. The event also looks at a selection of colors straight from the tube to highlight the Daniel Smith difference.

Discover more about the minerals used to create the brilliant Daniel Smith pigments, such as serpentine, sodalite, and geothite. Learn how Daniel Smith staff test for light-fastness and develop paints with special effects, such as luminescence, transparency, and superior mixing and blending capabilities.

All Daniel Smith paints are on sale for 20 percent-off list price at FLAX in honor of the seminar. Participants receive a free FLAX T-shirt.
