About: Following the success of Get Out, Jordan Peele continues his social exploration of America’s stratified landscape of race and class. Us opens in 1986, as a young girl visits a Santa Cruz beach boardwalk and confronts an eerie apparition that looks just like her. Now an adult, Adelaide Wilson (Lupita Nyong’o) remembers this encounter with a heavy sense of dread. When her husband books a vacation that takes her back to the same beach, she starts experiencing frightening flashbacks. Soon, haunting dopplegängers of Adelaide, her husband, and their children appear, wearing red jumpsuits and wielding brightly colored, sharp shears. Filled with jump scares and cat and mouse games, the family confronts these distorted mirror reflections and learn their doubled origin, what they want, and why they’ve come for them.
