Forecast 2024
SF Camerawork
SF Camerawork presents Forecast 2024, an annual juried survey exhibition, at Fort Mason Center For Arts & Culture (FMCAC). Each year SF Camerawork invites an esteemed jury of artists, curators, and critics to select and showcase the work of emerging image-makers, with an eye toward current movements, trends, and concerns in contemporary photography.
For 2024, San Francisco Bay Area artist Rea Lynn de Guzman and curator Maggie Dethloff have selected the work of Takming Chuang, Lynse Cooper (Juror’s Choice Award), Tiago Da Cruz, Jesse Egner, Nina Tanujaya, and Vanessa Woods from more than 160 entries from around the world. FORECAST 2024 is on view July 16, 2024 through September 7, 2024. SF Camerawork hosts an opening reception on Friday, July 19, 2024, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Landmark Building A in FMCAC. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 12:00 p.m. (Noon) to 6:00 p.m.
FORECAST 2024’s jury and SF Camerawork’s staff invite the public to celebrate the thoughtfulness of this cohort’s thematic explorations, which include compassionate musings on family and motherhood (Tanujaya and Woods); innovative, personal narrations of remembrance and impermanence (Cooper and Chuang); and diverse approaches to identity and portraiture that range from intensely conceptual to bizarre and whimsical (Da Cruz, Egner).
Honorable Mention Artists
SF Camerawork also selected six artists for the FORECAST 2024 Honorable Mention list. The exhibition jurors and SF Camerawork staff were impressed by the rigor and beauty expressed in the projects of these emerging artists, and present a selection of their work online.
