Through Nov 3rdMagic Theatre’s 2019-2020 season starts off with Lloyd Suh’s acclaimed The Chinese Lady at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture. Suh’s play is inspired by the true story of Afong Moy, the first Chinese woman to arrive in the U.S. Local favorite Rinabeth Apostol plays Moy as she travels from Beijing to the states and is put on public display for audiences wishing to learn more about the exotic eastern world. Suh’s writing and Apostol’s acting bring out the humor and insights in Moy’s situation and explore how humans consider themselves and others.
The 2019-2020 season subscriptions are on sale, ranging from $80 to $400. Individual tickets are also on sale, with prices ranging from $15 to $40 for previews, and $20 to $75 for the run of the play.
